China: Hangzhou Dog Genocide

A genocide against dogs is underway in Hangzhou. Mixed breed ‘mutt’ dogs are now classed as banned breeds and forbidden to be licensed, which put a death sentence on them. Officials are going into people’s houses and pet shops to remove unlicensed and banned dogs, including mixed breed dogs. All dogs are forbidden on streets between 7am and 7pm. No exceptions!

City officials are seizing and beating dogs to death on the streets and drowning them in parks. “Foreign pedigree dogs can be licensed, but not local rural dogs!” said government officials. Without a license they will be seized.

Many Chinese dog owners in Hangzhou are low income earners and have a mixed breed dog which is part of their family. They cannot afford to buy expensive foreign pedigree dogs. If they are not allowed to register their mixed breed dog for a license that is a death sentence for their loved pet., pet centric, Fight Dog Meat, fightdogmeat

Dogs in Hangzhou, seized by officials.

Unconfirmed reports say 600 official dog beaters with 300 vehicles are part of Hangzhou governments grand plan to eradicate as many dogs as possible. Parts of Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and possibly more locations have also begun seizing unleashed or unlicensed dogs. At this stage I’m unsure if curfews are in effect.

Video: not graphic. Shows local animal lovers confronting Hangzhou officials. The Corgi at the start of the video was on the street during the prohibited time of 7am to 7pm. Owners must be vigilant to protect their pets.

This is an unfolding situation which we’ll continue to monitor. We’ll bring updates on this situation as new information becomes available. This shocking situation is another obvious reason why China urgently needs animal protection laws.

Fight Dog Meat is working to try and help local animal lovers to bring in animal protection laws and end the brutal dog and cat meat trade. The world needs to know what is happening to innocent animals at the hands of monsters who blend into society.
