Vietnam: Dog Meat Cafe Explodes And Burns Baby
A seven month old baby is fighting for his life in hospital suffering critical burns over his entire little body. The baby’s father slaughtered a dog for their dog meat restaurant and the gas bottle exploded as he turned on the gas to cook the dog. Fire engulfed the restaurant, seriously injuring the mother and father and critically injuring their infant baby.
The baby, known as Nguyen Hai Nam is in intensive care in hospital.
Earlier in the day the gas bottle has run dry and had just been replaced with a refilled bottle of gas. However the valve was not locked and gas was escaping when it was ignited. The father took the full blast of the explosion, engulfing his entire body. His wife suffered serious burns on her face and legs.
The infant baby was engulfed in the flames and his entire little body was critically burned. The baby has been transferred to the National Burns Institute. [I’ve seen images from inside the burns units in Vietnam and the conditions of burns patients in Vietnam is horrifying beyond words. Prayers are needed for this innocent little baby.]
Reports say the family have slaughtered dogs and run a dog meat restaurant for over six years. For now both parents remain in Yen Bai General Hospital and their precious baby in the National Burns Institute.
This is a tragic situation. As much as we’re against all dog butchers and slaughterhouses, its tragic that a little baby is fighting for his life. He was born into a family of dog butchers with a dog meat restaurant. If the little baby survives he’ll forever carry disfiguring physical and emotional scars from this terrible incident.
If only Vietnam would bring in animal protection laws dog and cat slaughterhouses would be out of business.
Fight Dog Meat will continue to bring you reports from dog and cat meat countries and the wonderful work their rescuers are doing.
