For years Fight Dog Meat has been posting about dog meat for Christmas. The Vietnamese words ‘Thit Cho’ means dog meat in English. The photograph was taken in Vietnam outside an upscale dogmeat restaurant in Hanoi, the country’s capital city. The dog meat restaurant is targeting dog eating Christians with it’s lavish Christmas extravaganza outside the front of the restaurant. The two main religions across Vietnamare Buddhism and Christianity. Most Buddhists do not eat meat.

This dog meat restaurant is considered upscale because the building is painted and decorated inside and outside, and provides customer bathrooms (WC toilets.)

In 2018 government authorities in Hanoi made a projected announcement that in 2021 the sale of dog meat would become illegal in the city center of Hanoi, based on the image of dog meat being unsettling for international tourists. However, due to the world wide outbreak of Covid 19 there are no international tourists traveling anywhere, including Vietnam. Animal lovers around the world will be watching to see if authorities in Hanoi keep their promise of a dog meat free city in 2021.

Fight Dog Meat will continue to bring you reports from dog and cat meat countries and the wonderful work their rescuers are doing despite no animal protection laws. Turning away or sitting quietly does not end the trade. We’ll keep exposing what is taking place to these animals. We’re helping local volunteers have a louder voice on a world platform. Ultimately it’s the voice of the country’s own people whom their government will eventually be forced to listen to, for positive change for animals.
