In a twist, a ‘female’ dog thief was beaten up by local residents after she was handcuffed by police! Angry local residents beat and slapped her, then paraded her with around with the dead dog draped over her, to shame her and let her know just because she is a woman makes no difference – she will receive the same vigilante justice from infuriated local animal lovers. The 39 year old woman is Tran Thi Luyen, from Hung Thai, Ninh Giang district.
Police drove the arrested female dog thief to their police station, where dozens of local animal lovers were waiting and demanding justice against the dog thief, for terrorizing their neighborhood and stealing and murdering their family pets.
The woman and her accomplice, a man, were first seen around 8am by two local residents who recognized their behavior as dog thieves and began pursuing them. After around 10km the man crashed the motorbike, and the woman fell off.
The man sped off and left the female dog thief to fend for herself, against a furious mob screaming for justice. It was 4.30pm by the time she was brought to the police station, where police uncovered she has one previous convictions for theft.
The woman dog thief pleaded she needed money to feed her children because she was unemployed. She admitted to inviting young men around 30 years old into fields to help her capture dogs to sell to dog butchers.
All dog thieves will be harshly dealt with in Vietnam – male or female. Justice – Vietnamese style, in full view of police. Vietnam has a growing number of animal lovers who hate the dog and cat meat trade and want it ended.
Fight Dog Meat will continue to bring you reports from dog and cat meat countries and the wonderful work their rescuers are doing despite no animal protection laws. Turning away or sitting quietly does not end the trade. We’ll keep exposing what is taking place to these animals. We’re helping local volunteers have a louder voice on a world platform. Ultimately it’s the voice of the country’s own people whom their government will eventually be forced to listen to, for positive change for animals.
