The dog in the first video is dying. You can see his mouth moving as he labors to draw breath, unable to move his body. The dog in the third video is already deceased; and partially skinned.
Local Chinese volunteers filmed these horrific scenes in a slaughterhouse in Hongya County, located in Meishan City, in Sichuan Province, China. They took the footage to police. Volunteers begged police for the slaughterhouse to be closed down on the grounds of public hygiene risk and damage to Hongya County’s reputation as a “civilized city.” [There are no animal protection laws in China so volunteers cannot cite animal cruelty as a reason to close slaughterhouses. ]
Hongya County is listed on Trip Advisor, for fun things to do. Please feel free to leave a review on the city.
In many years of fighting the dog and cat meat trade I’ve found that petitions do not hold meaning to Communist governments such as China or Vietnam. If Fight Dog Meat thought petitions were the answer we’d be pushing our own petitions every day, [we have three petitions listed below.] Petitions are not the answer. Petitions help the person signing feel good for a moment. But they don’t influence governments who hold the power to bring change.
Fight Dog Meat will continue to bring you reports from dog and cat meat countries and the wonderful work their rescuers are doing despite no animal protection laws. Turning away or sitting quietly does not end the trade. We’ll keep exposing what is taking place to these animals. We’re helping local volunteers have a louder voice on a world platform. Ultimately it’s the voice of the country’s own people whom their government will eventually be forced to listen to, for positive change for animals.
