In the video the butchers are laughing out loud as Chinese animal lovers beg to save the remaining dogs. A Doberman wearing a house collar lays lifeless in his own blood, alongside a Labrador, Golden Retriever and other dogs. The dogs have been stabbed in the chest and thrown in a pile to bleed out over a pedestrian pavement storm water drain. Two large piles of stabbed dogs lay strewn across the public pedestrian walkway in broad daylight.

Directly next door to the slaughtering of countless dogs is a residential housing complex! Dogs do not die quietly. Dogs scream in piercing terror when butcher’s iron calipers clamp around their neck – they know they’re about to die. Residents of the apartments would hear screams day and night. It is unfathomable that authorities allow this gross cruelty to be in a public place, and next to residential housing. You can see the blocks of housing apartments in the background of the video below.

Most butchers in the dog and cat meat trade are not interested in selling live animals. They scoff at rescuers attempts to save live animals. Butchers are in business to kill and sell slaughtered animals; not live ones.

Its not realistic for people to suggest rescuers should have broken into the cages and stolen the remaining live dogs. (a) rescuer’s can’t just break into iron cages without getting caught because it takes too long to get the cages open (b) rescuers would be severely beaten for tampering (c) authorities would arrest the rescuers for theft. I understand people’s emotions in wanting dogs to be saved, but sometimes its just not possible if butchers flatly refuse.

This disgraceful situation is taking place in Huaibei City, Anhui Province. Local Anhui animal lovers want this information shown so people around the world know what is happening in their city. Anhui Province has a high consumption of dog meat, including from officials. [Anhui is the same province that are friends the Haven Sanctuary are located in.]

Ultimately it’s the voice of the country’s own people whom their government will eventually be forced to listen to, for positive change for animals.
