Vietnam: Boiling Water Over Pet
The dog’s owner was trying to be responsible in caring for her pet dog. For times the family needed to go out they would put their little dog in a large and sturdy iron crate on the front porch of their home. The crate was shielded by dense shrubs which acted as a buffer. The shrubs protected their dog during the short times he was in it. They also connected an outdoor camera security system.
They didn’t know that the woman who lived next door, their neighbor, was a cruel monster.
It was early evening and the pet dog’s owner was out. Before leaving she secured her pet dog in it’s large crate to keep it safe until she returned.

When the owner returned home her dog was in a terrible state. It was distraught, in pain and covered in shocking injuries. It was locked in it’s crate so how could this happen? Horrifying images recorded on her home security cameras revealed a tremendous shock.
Camera images showed the next door neighbor lady appeared walking through the dog owner’s front yard. She was carrying a large heavy bucket. The lower right hand sided of the footage shows the dog’s iron crate.
Without flinching the neighbor woman walks up to the pet dog and throws an entire bucket of boiling water over the unsuspecting friendly little pet dog!
The poor dog screams in agony and thrashes in pain in the crate. The neighbor nonchalantly turns and casually walks away toward her own house; carrying her empty bucket.
The neighbor woman doesn’t blink at the shocking agony she inflicted on the little poor dog.
Video: Viewer Discretion Advised
Video (below) contains upsetting audio sounds which are distressing to hear. Perhaps mute the sound when viewing the video for the first time.
In Conclusion
People are not held accountable for horrific animal cruelty in Vietnam. By Vietnamese law the injured dog is the ‘property’ of the owner. Therefore the neighbor deliberately damaged the owner’s ‘property.’
However, unless the owner can prove her dog is valued over $100 USD and show documentation proof of purchase/ownership the owner doesn’t have a case which would be supported by Vietnamese law. Most dog owners do not have proof of purchase/ownership for a dog over $100 USD. That is a lot of money in Vietnam.
So consequently the horrid neighbor woman gets away with this deliberate act of cruelty against her owner’s loved pet dog. Sadly this scenario happens every day across Vietnam. Being a responsible pet owner in Vietnam is very difficult.
Fight Dog Meat will continue our rescue, rehabilitation and adoption work, helping Vietnam’s animals in critical need. Turning away or sitting quietly does not end the hideous meat trade. FDM will keep exposing what these animals are forced to endure. Ultimately it’s the voice of the country’s own people whom their government will eventually be forced to listen to, for positive change for animals. It’s mid-year 2025 and still no animal protection laws for Vietnam. No excuses left.
