Home butchers who slaughter dogs for their own individual consumption are the cruelest of all dog butchers. They deliberately prolong the conscious animal’s suffering to toughen the meat as much as possible. Agony or terror cause the dog’s body to flood with adrenaline, toughening the meat to excessive levels. Tough meat is considered good quality meat to dog eaters because they ‘falsely’ believe it enhances the meat’s superpowers, such as boosting a man’s libido. Dog meat has no medicinal powers and ‘tenderizing’ the meat through deliberate torture is disgustingly cruel.

The mouth of the dog in the video (below) was wired tightly shut leaving him defenseless and unable to scream out in pain. He was brutally bludgeoned on the back of his head, in the middle of his neck behind his ears – but not killed outright! He was then lowered head first into boiling water and his head pinned down under water as he drowned. This dog suffered a shocking death in forced silence. In my opinion the forced silence is yet another layer of torture inflicted by cowardly butchers.

The butcher in this video answers to no one because there’s no animal protection laws in Vietnam. Vietnamese animal lovers desperately plead to their government for animal laws to be implemented, but so far their cries fall onto deaf ears. The number of local animal lovers across Vietnam is constantly increasing, but there is still a long way to go before the government will yield to implement animal protection laws.

Fight Dog Meat will continue to bring you reports from dog and cat meat countries and the wonderful work their rescuers are doing despite no animal protection laws. Turning away or sitting quietly does not end the trade. We’ll keep exposing what is taking place to these animals. We’re helping local volunteers have a louder voice on a world platform. Ultimately it’s the voice of the country’s own people whom their government will eventually be forced to listen to, for positive change for animals.
