A Vietnamese animal lover has called for help about cats being sold for cat meat, in the Bình Hưng Hòa area, next to the cemetery in Ho Chi Minh City.

Live cats are caged for cat eaters to choose which cat they want to eat. Customers watch their chosen cat be removed from the cage, then hit on the heat once with a hammer and while still alive, the cat is slowly lowered into a pot of boiling water.

These cats are in a death cage and will be boiled alive, for cat meat.

The black cat is for sale for over twice the price of the other cats.

The lady calling for help has bought two of the cats, to keep for herself and is asking for animal rescuers to please look into the situation.

Many local Vietnamese people are fearful of cats, especially black cats, because it is falsely believed that if a cat jumps over a human dead body, the dead person will stay alive as a ghost.

The cat meat sellers have cages of cats, to supply customers with on-the-spot killed cats which they boil alive.
